Here’s a look at the latest people in the running to be named Lansing State Journal’s High School Athlete of the Week.

Davis Garrett, Lansing Christian boys golf
The senior helped the Pilgrims win the GLAC Championship. Garrett finished second in Wednesday’s GLAC Championship meet at Forest Akers East while helping Lansing Christian win the tag team title with a score of 330, 11 better than Lakewood. Garrett has a score of 76 while leading three Pilgrim golfers who have placed in the top five.
Mason Girls Runway Riley Gill
The sophomore helped the Bulldogs add to their CAAC Red championship series. Gill finished as the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles champion at the CAAC Red championship meet on Wednesday. She won the 100 hurdles in 16.28 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 48.28. Gill was also part of Mason’s winning 1600m relay.
Grace Hungerford, DeWitt Girls Runway
The eldest was a three-time individual winner in the CAAC Blue championship meet on Wednesday, taking titles in the 200, 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles. The Michigan State entry won the 100 hurdles in 16.47 seconds, the 300 hurdles in 45.96 seconds and the 200 in a personal best 26.14. Hungerford followed that up by winning the 300 hurdles at the MITCA State Meet in a personal best 45.06 seconds. She finished third in the 300m hurdles and fourth in the 200m at the MITCA competition.
Abby Jager, Okemos Women’s Soccer
Jager was one of Wolves’ best attacking players and helped them progress in the Division 1 state tournament. Jager netted a goal for Okemos in a 1-0 District win over East Lansing on Wednesday .
Joe Leonard, St. Johns baseball
The junior was part of a strong offensive offense and helped the CAAC Redwings to wins over Lansing Catholic, Ionia and Charlotte last week, hitting two homers. He had a run and a walk in a 7-5 win over Lansing Catholic at the Diamond Classic on Tuesday and followed a home run in a 13-1 win over Ionia. Leonard went 4 for 7 on a Charlotte double sweep, which included a home run.
