Temperatures are warming after a chilly Mother’s Day

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) — After a cloudy and cool Mother’s Day, we’ll have a cool night once the clouds clear.

  • Tonight: clearing and cooler.
  • Monday: Sunny and mild.
  • Tuesday: Generally sunny and pleasant.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy, but overnight skies will clear and temperatures will drop into the upper 30s and lower 40s in the mountains and into the mid 40s in the foothills. The sun returns on Monday and Tuesday, with high temperatures warming into the 70s.

High pressure will keep the Carolinas calm and dry through Thursday. Wednesday will be sunny and warmer with highs in the lower 80s. Expect a mix of sun and cloud for Thursday with highs in the upper 70s.

Our next first alert is in place for Friday. From Friday through next weekend, confidence is growing for the chance of rain in our region as the low pressure off the coast is expected to move west. Friday and Saturday highs will range from the upper 70s to near 80 degrees.

On Sunday there will be a chance for showers and scattered thunderstorms, otherwise partly cloudy skies with highs in the 80s.
