“Harry Potter: Magic Awakened” Becomes Highest Profitable Mobile Game in China


As of September 9, fans of the Wizarding World in China can enjoy the latest official mobile game, Harry Potter: The Magical Awakening, a role-playing game (RPG) with elements of the game’s maps, published by Warner Bros. and NetEase. The game places players several years after Wizarding War II, where you begin your journey to Hogwarts as a freshman. Players can learn new spells, attend classes, and complete different challenges.

The game was previously announced for pre-registration in China in 2019, and is now available for download. Harry Potter: The Awakening of Magic is currently the most downloaded game in China and can be found at # 1 for the highest grossing games on Apple’s Chinese App Store, as well as the top-grossing iOS game in Hong Kong and Macau (an autonomous region on the south coast of China) and No. 2 in Taiwan.

The game receives a lot of good reviews for the strong artistic playstyle.

While there is no scheduled release date for the game in Europe and North America, NetEase and Warner Bros. plan to release the game in Japan and South Korea in late 2021. official trailer highlights some of the magical adventures players can embark on.

NetEase is also planning to launch another mobile game, The Lord of the Rings: Rise to War worldwide on September 23.
