Crowd beats suspected phone thief in Delta community


A suspected phone thief was beaten to a stupor by a mob in Ughelli, Ughelli North Local Government Area of ​​Delta State.

Our correspondent has learned that the incident took place along Uloho Avenue in the metropolis after the suspect, identified simply as Brown, allegedly snatched a mobile device from his victim and fled on a motorcycle.

It was however understood that the odds ran against the fleeing suspect when he was apprehended by the injured crowd, after having a head-on collision with an oncoming vehicle in Daniel Mukoro Street, along the Uloho Ave.

Speaking about the incident, one of the witnesses said: ‘The suspect snatched a bag from a woman containing her mobile phone and when she sounded the alarm people in the area gave the suspect a hot pursuit and he was finally arrested when he had a head-on collision with an oncoming vehicle.

Delta State Command Police Public Relations Officer DSP Bright Edafe could not be reached for comment on the incident at the time of this report.
