HID Global Enhances Its HID Mobile Access Solution With New Partnership With BioConnect. The biometrics specialist will equip HID Global with its own BioConnect mobile authenticator, which will be integrated with HID Mobile Access to provide administrators and end users with a more comprehensive set of authentication options.

HID Mobile Access is designed for access control, allowing people to access a building with a digital ID stored on a standard smartphone. BioConnect’s mobile authenticator will complement these credentials with device-based biometric and multi-factor authentication, providing an additional layer of identity assurance for site operators.

In this regard, the BioConnect mobile app supports several biometric modalities, including facial and fingerprint recognition. System administrators can configure the system to require certain authenticators at high-risk access points, while people are free to choose their preferred modality in low-risk situations. In either case, the BioConnect solution and HID Global will generate a verifiable record of access control events.

The BioConnect partnership will also give organizations access to health and wellness statements. The statements ask users to self-report their medical condition to determine whether or not they are showing symptoms of (or have potentially been exposed to) COVID-19. Employees may be asked to complete returns on their mobile devices before arriving at work, and access will only be granted to those in good health.

“The collaboration with BioConnect underscores our commitment to provide customers with a wide range of options for convenient and secure access control,” said Hilding Arrehed, vice president of global cloud product and service management at HID. “HID Mobile Access continues to deliver on its promise to improve and simplify the user experience by enabling a wide range of add-on applications and use cases on a single mobile device.

HID Global has previously provided mobile access to Russian internet provider Mail.Ru and the American School of Guatemala. The technology is also used at Avalon facilities around the world.

BioConnect, meanwhile, recently won the award for Best Convergence and Integration Solution at the ISC West New Product Showcase with its BioConnect Enterprise 5.0 offering. The Wellness Statements have been deployed at the MaRS Innovation Center in downtown Toronto.
