Austin Peay athletic trainer to work for Mike Leach and Mississippi State football

CLARKSVILLE, TN (NOW CLARKSVILLE) – Austin Peay athletic trainer Isaac Horsch has moved to Starkville, Mississippi to work under Mike Leach and Mississippi State football.

Horsch began his career at Austin Peay as a trainee athletic trainer in 2020. After a year working for the school’s athletic department, he was promoted to graduate assistant athletic trainer. Horsch helped oversee sports such as football, cross country, and track and field.

“There has been a lot of growth throughout my time working for APSU,” Horsch said. “It was my first real experience of being alone as a sports coach. It allowed me to develop my confidence and my decision-making. The quality relationships I established with other members of staff, coaches and student-athletes also made it a special experience.

Horsch has extensive experience as an athletic trainer outside of Austin Peay. Most notably, he worked as a trainee athletic trainer with Texas A&M and Mississippi State. Also, he had worked for a professional football league known as the Spring League in Indianapolis.

“Being able to get the call back from Mississippi State Athletics is very rewarding,” Horsch said. “The recall means I performed my job during my tenure at school, so it really means a lot to me. I look forward to returning to the SEC and continuing to work with Division I athletes.”

Clarksville Now asked Horsch what his message was to aspiring athletic trainers in the Montgomery County area. He said: “Always be kind and respectful to anyone you come into contact with. Know that you are making a difference in people’s lives and that you truly have one of the best jobs in the world.
